Elementary Learning Center
This will be my second year at Maranatha! I have learned so much, and mostly I have learned what a wonderful place this is to be. I am so excited for this school year! I grew up in the Land of
Enchantment, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was there that I met my magnificent husband and we have
been married for 10 years. When an opportunity to move to the MidWest was set before us, we felt certain
that the Lord was leading us. I like to say that after all of that time in the desert, we have reached the
promised land! Kansas is absolutely beautiful, and we feel very blessed to be here. We have three wonderfully
inquisitive and imaginative children who will be attending 6th grade, 3rd grade, and 1st grade right here at MCA.
Teaching feels like a gift to me, and I have 11 years of experience in the classroom. I have a Master of Arts in
Elementary Education as well as an endorsement in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages. My
Bachelor’s degree in English Literature is indicative of my love of reading. I am thrilled to be able to study
the very best book with your children: the Bible!
My philosophy of teaching is that of joyous learning, collaboration to strengthen our classroom community,
and recognition of individual gifts and talents. Making connections across the curriculum and magnifying
God’s glory in creation and human history will be an exciting part of our journey for spiritual and academic
achievement. After my many years in public school, it will be such a privilege to teach the truth out loud.
Even after-hours, teaching is where you can find me. My husband and I are in charge of the Kindergarten
Sabbath School class, and it is such fun to partner with him in a classroom situation. I am also a Children’s Ministry leader for our church. Our dog, too, plays a part in education. She is a Corgi, and classroom therapy dog who listens very patiently while children from all walks of life read to her. From the moment I stepped on to the South Campus, simply looking for a possible place for our son, I felt that the Lord was drawing me to this school for a reason. One of my favorite verses is found in Matthew 13:44″The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” God thinks of us a a treasure, and that is how I think of children in my classroom. I am humbled at the opportunity to be called to MCA and am so looking forward to a wonderful year filled with His purpose and wonder.
1 John 2:5-6
“But whoso keepteh His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.
