TalentED K-6

I have been at Maranatha since 2014 and have learned more about how wonderful it is to be here every year.  I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store this season.  I grew up in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  It was there that I met my magnificent husband and we have been married for 12 years. When God opened the door to move to the MidWest, we felt certain that the Lord was leading us out of the desert and into the ‘promised land’.  Kansas is beautiful and feel very blessed to be here.  We have two wonderfully inquisitive and imaginative children who will be in the 5th and 3rd grades right here at MCA.

Teaching is my happy place!  I have 14 years of experience in the classroom.  I have a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, a Bachelors degree in English Literature, as well as an endorsement in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages.  My heart, my calling, and the focus of my ongoing professional development is in Special Education.  This year I will complete a certification in Leadership for Special and Inclusive Education.

Our TalentEd program is to support children who have needs that are beyond the scope of the classroom. Mrs. Porter and I collaborate to ensure that students get the challenge that they need at their learning level.  All children are fearfully and wonderfully made, and we have the privilege of working in small groups and one-on-one developing their talents.  My area of specialty is supporting children who have learning and language vulnerabilities.  Following Christ’s example of prayerful and careful teaching, I strive to provide an environment where children can be honest about their struggles and receive individual intervention.  We work hard, alongside parents and teachers, and find much joy in the success when obstacles are overcome.

Matthew 7:7-11  God promises to bless us with greater gifts than we possess when we seek him.  I am so humbled to teach children how to seek God and how to trust His promises and His plan for their education and for their lives.
